A bid adieu to the past year

Hello folks! Thank you for stopping by.
As the title says,it's time to bid adieu to 2012.Um,lets see.It was a normal year. The government did not care about its people, apathy was written all over the government's face.People were indifferent (as compared to 2011 when people actively supported Anna Hazare in launching an anti-corruption movement)
We kept losing matches (We faced defeat in the hands of Pakistan just yesterday)
The Highlights :
1.The doomsday which did not happen : All the cynics and pessimists sentenced the entire world to death for rampaging the environment or something. Many theories were put across
The most popular one was that of the Mayans. Also, the crap movie which commercialized on the fear of so many people. They said a gigantic tsunami would engulf us all, ending the world instantly.Sorry my cynical folks,as much as you wanted it to happen,it did not happen.Better end your life on your own, than asking a tsunami to swallow you.
2.Deaths: Sorry, this sounds gory but many of the famous and the infamous have passed away last year.No prizes for guessing who the infamous was.Read my previous blog post for furthur reference.
The police apparently did a geat job of eliminating the vicious desparado.
Celebrities like Bhupen Hazarika,Pt.Ravi Shankar,Rajesh Khanna,Yash Chopra all breathed their last in the previous year.
So what is with the deaths?Crazy coincidence.

3.Continuation of rapes,killings,lootings:
It's not the sexual frustration. There are enough brothels. Its the egoistic mindset that they need to teach women a lesson. What happened in Delhi a few days back just highlights this.Guys,I urge you to not use curses which accuse a person of incest.Learn to treat a person with respect,no matter what.Attacking someone vulnerable makes you coward, not a big man.
Since we live in Kalyug, all our karmas will favour or not favour us in this birth only.

Despite the pessimism, there still shines a ray of hope.We are progressing, but a snail pace. With a little more care for the surroundings, the environment especially,we can do wonders, as a human race.If we live without prejudices of people from different communities and learn to care for others.Let's all pledge to make 2013 a year of transition- of hope and happiness.A change in a positive way.To grow and blossom :)

A puppet's life ends on a string..

On the 21st morning, I was drinking my morning cuppa when my phone buzzed as usual.Expecting a usual ' Good Morning' message or similar,I checked my phone. It was a text from my friend saying ' Kasab hanged hurray'.Dismissing it as a fake rumour,I continued with my daily chores, not thinking about it at all.
But apparently,it turned out to be true.No.I did not feel any sense of jubilation or victory.Going by the usual snail pace of judiciary, this was apparently quick (Afzal Guru is still in jail since 2002)
But then,it just feels like the first of many steps.Ofcourse,India has gone from being defensive to offensive in its military posture.Yet, this does not feel like a closure in any sense.
Kasab was just a pawn in this war.An illiterate LeT outsider, who was apparently forced into this.Or so he says. The point is,he was trained to die.Kill and then die.None of his accomplices or Kasab himself was expected to live beyond that night.
Getting caught alive was not in their plan.Kasab told details like never before. How it was planned, directed and executed. How exactly did he kill 164 people out there. How on the 26th November,2008,he calmly pulled out an automatic rifle with a slight bounce in his step and moved towards platform 7 and 8.He revealed all details to the Joint commissioner Rakesh Maria about the whole layout.
But nothing inspires hope.Islamabad never established the role of their state actors.
And the loopholes in the security system need to be looked into actively. Also, some security measures need to be ensured against the homegrown terrorists who seemed to have retained the ability to strike.
The hanging of Kasab should be therefore made as a point to ensure that India will stay strong and defensive and not tolerate any kind of terrorism henceforth. This is no closure. This is the beginning.

How to get over a crush

This sucks. You want to get over someone you never even dated. You went after someone who didn't return your interest. Most of the people have gone through this, and yes, are too egoistic to accept this fact. It's almost humiliating how long it takes to get over crushes. The heart tries to go after who it wants,in any case. But the head should have the ultimate decision power.

Here are some ways to get over your crush (This is well-researched)

1.He is not 'The one' :No matter how much you liked him and wanted him to be your one true love, he was not the one. Why?Well,he wasn't crazy about you enough to pursue you.If he didn't do that,he wasn't your dream man.

2.Nobody's Perfect:Nope,he ain't flawless.No one is.He is not your Prince Charming,or your dream guy.

3.Lose the hope:Get rid of any hope about getting together...its not going to happen.Do not make the excuse that the person is introverted.A person with interest, will show their feelings soon enough.Don't keep on hoping for something to happen ,instead open your life for a new person to enter in.

4.Protect your mind: You have no place in his heart,so he has no place in your mind.Replace his thoughts by something new if you can.Think about something which excites you, like a pair of shoes,or a meal you like. You have the power to stop the train of your thoughts.Don't over think. It's the truth.

5.Don't talk about him:This is gonna worsen the situation.Tell your friends to not talk about him.And don't talk about him.You don't miss someone you don't think or talk about.Out of mind is out of heart.

6.Meet new guys: the best way to get over someone is to meet new guys(who happen to return your interest) Most of the times,if there is a mutual interest, an inviting smile and an eye contact is all you need :)

Immortals of Melluha

The book, written by debutante author Amish has a compelling story line about the depiction of the Lord Shiva, as an ordinary citizen, who curses, smokes weed and grass, and lusts for his girl whom he eventually marries. The gist is that he rises to his god like stature through his good deeds. Of course, luck plays a huge part as he's a part of prophecy that claims to destroy the evil. And thus, the deal is struck. He is supposed to destroy the evil,as any man who has a permanent blue throat after drinking the somras, is the destroyer of evil(as accordance with the prophecy)
While the mythologies I have been told to as child have been drastically different than Amish's story line, the book, nevertheless has a lot of information and facts about the era.The deep rooted caste system, for instance. Also, the fact that compassion and human treatment to all could glorify a person's character.
Shiva,a Tibetan commoner rises from being an ordinary citizen to the Great Neelkanth in matter of no time because of  his depth, wisdom and humanity. The books makes us realize the importance of good karmas and most importantly, teaches us to be good human beings.
As far as authenticity is concerned,no mythology can be vouched for.And the Immortals of Melluha is truly,a good read. But the Somras was actually a wine,an alcoholic beverage that the gods savoured and not the elixir of life,as mentioned.

Reviewing TV shows

I'm not a TV-ish person, and even when I do press the remote occasionally,I prefer something decent.Preferably something entertaining, funny, something which most Indian telly shows do not offer. It's either a sob saga about the woes of a woman trapped inside a wrong marital abode or those sad sab tv shows which leave you totally poker faced.
So I thought I'd review the ones I watch occasionally,or at times,somewhat often.So here goes;

1. The Mentalist: This show is so awesome.Patrick Jane's psychic powers seem genuine at all times, and the show actually presents an ending too unexpected to digest. And it retains the air of mystery and anticipation throughout the show.Plus,Patrick Jane is kinda hot.Love that smile of his. Also, the show is well-scripted and everyone acts well. The only hitch is that senior Lisbon lacks the level of involvement in all cases, considering her position.Overall, this show surely is a great watch.
2.The Big Bang Theory:If you crave something hilarious, this is the show to watch.Leonard ,Sheldon are two nerds, both physicists in California. When Penny,a pretty woman moves next door to their apartment,Sheldon tries his luck with her.The show is absolutely brilliant, with all kinds of humour, and Sheldon's unconventional rigid ways actually make you love him.The best time of the show is anytime when he and Penny share a disagreement.
3.How I met your Mother:Another brilliant show. This I can vouch for, having seen all the six seasons. The show basically is about Ted finding his soul mate in New York City, with the help of his four best friends,Marshall,Lily,Barney and Robin.Barney's an unapologetic womanizer and is responsible for all the fun element in the show.Throughout the show,Ted is actually relating the story of how he met their mother in great depth to retain the magic.
4.Pretty Little Liars:While the show is sparkled with the glam factor and girly-ness,it has a gripping narration as four best friends are threatened by an anonymous 'A' who seems to know all their secrets and all their whereabouts and activities and pretty much uses it against them. The main mystery of the show is to find out who 'A' is,in reality.Awesomely glamorous and sleek, this show,I can rate, totally watch-able at all times.
5.Cougar Town: While the title and the setup may make this one sound like another of the Desperate Housewives kinda show, but the show is so not that. What I like about the show is the funny element it retains,no matter what.Jules is awesome, but I love Ellie's character the most. The woman is so natural.Plus, the humour is the best, better than any telly shows. But what it needs,is a stronger story line.

Trading lives

Today,I thought I'd speak on a topic which has been going through my mind since ages.Human Trafficking.A gross commercialization of innocent human lives into a world of extremely tragic human abuse, without dignity or freedom or choice.
Since women and children form a vulnerable class, they're the prime targets of the flesh trade. The Constitution of India guarantees Human Rights to be universal and inalienable and trafficking violates all the human rights.Often, the victims are lured under false pretenses. The young women could be lured by the promise of better employment opportunities, or the pimps at times, cleverly disguise themselves as lovers and land these innocent girls into a fake commitment of marriage and then sell them off. The others are kidnapped and then sold.
Children could be trafficked for reasons such as labour work or domestic help.Or even for organ trade and sexual exploitation. Also, the organ trade in India was once quite the flourishing market, and before the legislation had passed laws, the market was legalized.
Unfortunately ,Trafficking is on the rise.Around 2 million prostitutes in India began to work as minors, and were mostly forced into the trade.Around 30% are minors right now.
The internet porn has been regarded as a harmless form of recreation. After all,God invented sex, right? However, a lot of porn does feature trafficked women and children. It is also said that porn viewers are inclined towards abnormal sexuality, sexual aggression, and even rape.I do know men out there, whose brains have been addled due to watching porn.Porn does make people insensitive.Anyway, the point is that people viewing porn ardently believe that women in porn are genuinely enjoying themselves. That,my friend does not happen.Put yourself in her place.Would you enjoy it yourself?Demeaning yourself in front of the camera? No,right? Same goes out for her. Many of these women were forced to watch porn and imitate it to practice it.
The world is full of shitty,greedy,feeling-less people out there.Make sure you're not one of them ;)
Showing indifference does put you up in that category.
Trafficking and flesh trade is an unholy alliance that degrades and destroys people's lives.
Slavery still exists in today's world. It's called human trafficking.

My Top 10 All time Most Favorite Movies

I admit I have a lot of vella time on my hands.Spare time, that is.Which explains the regularity of my blog updates.I was trying to be more into social matters lately, what with my last two blogs, which I'm sure, might have pissed off all the men out there.Well, truth is the  ultimatum ,after all.Not that me being vella has anything to do with me bashing the males out there.
So I've made this list of my favourite movies of all times. They're the kind of movies I'd love, they aren't the world recommended pieces of cinematic gems or anything. In fact,I haven't included even the Bollywood films here, even though there are some really good movies out there, which I didn't love.
So here goes:

1. 50 First Dates: An awesome, cheesy, extremely funny (if you're into witty humor) love story about a Casanova,Henry Roth, who turns out to be a poster lover boy when he meets the girl of his dreams,Lucy. It's quite romantic  she's had an accident and can't remember him the next morning, but then, he makes her fall in love with him ,over and over, again.Adam Sandler and Drew Barrymore are a great pair together.

2.Sweet Home Alabama: A story of a young woman with a 'white trash alabama' background runs away to the big apple to chase her dreams and becomes a snobbish new york socialite. Until, her roots compel her to be the woman she once was, with no pretense.Awesome quote line and song in the movie really cracked me up' Bright lights, big city, gone to my babys head' And
Josh Lucas,So DAMN HOT!
3.The Wedding Planner: When it comes to love, you can never really plan what would happen. This is exactly what happens to Mary (Jennifer Lopez) who's a busy wedding planner who falls for one of her clients instead. And that's when life starts to complicate. It's her biggest wedding of the career..the best part of the movie is the feel-good dreamy romance between the lead pairs. The script is almost like a Hindi Yash Chopra movie.

4.Mean Girls: Trust me,to all you mean, high school people, this movie would not seem so nice. It's about those full-of-themselves bitchy high school girls for whom life is shallow and superficial. It's about the boys, grades(sometimes) and how-we-are greater and better than most of the girls things. This movie helps to provide an insight in to the minds of these so-called awesome girls.

5.Beethoven: the line beneath the movie poster says it all.'Big heart, big appetite, big trouble' This dog, like any other is a true lovable creature who loves his family from the bottom of his heart. The trouble is,the vet wants to kill him .And the dog,as usual, saves the day.And your heart, goes out for Beethoven.
6.Monster-in-law:You find your perfect man.And you find your bliss, till you meet the other woman in his life-his mother.Who finds you to be a threat to her relationship with her son.A lot of women can relate to this.Awesome work by Jane Fonda and Jennifer Lopez.
7.Harry Potter and the Deathly Hallows: This should have been on the top actually.I LOVE this movie big time. This movie has actually kept up with the book's magic, and presents itself so grand and wonderful, that you're in love with the movie instantly. The movie's all about the leads(Harry,Ron,Hermoine) searching for the horcruxes hidden by Voldemort.Awesome everything.I'll say you have missed something in life if you haven't seen this.

8.Twilight (eclipse): I know that it's quite in fashion to criticize Twilight and Justin Bieber, but I'll say,you have to read Twilight and then judge it.Ofcourse,it's no comparison to the HP series.Anyway, this movie is the third installment about the 'vampire girl' Bella, who actually unites the clans of vampires and  werewolves to fight against a string of mysterious killings.

9.Mission Impossible 4:The Ghost Protocol: I might be slightly biased towards this movie,it has the Gorgeous Tom Cruise, after all.Even so,it's a great action packed movie. With elements of thrill and excitement in it.

10.The Mask:Jim Carrey is awesome. So is Cameron Dias(who's looked amazingly stunning in this one)And the totally funny script.I love this one a lot, even if its the last on the list.

Girls,unwanted,unloved etc

My last blog post spoke about the hopeless treatment the women receive in the hands of the males(most of them are insanely proud of their balls) But more on that later.
I almost touched this topic last time, but not entirely. Nevertheless,Aamir Khan's new show Satyameva Jayate has been an eye opener for all.The topic was too grim and gore in nature ; Female infanticide. The show revealed some shocking truths about this phenomenon, about its unethical and the commercial million dollar industry.Respectable doctors were found to be involved in sting operations and unethically aborting the fetus.
It also showed the hopeless treatment the new born babies and mothers were recieving.Battering the girls, here, starts from day one.And this often happens in so-called decent,well-to do families.
These smartasses don't want a girl. She'll get married, and a dowry has to be paid to auction her off.No doubt, the girl has to be 'respectable' in her later life.
A son( a 'kul deep') will earn and keep you fed and clothed and well-looked after for life.
I'll tell you all smarties. It's karma, and it's gonna screw you bad. They might laugh at this innocuous statement and mistaken me for a simpleton but I assure you I'm not.
This disturbing trend has started in Northen India and has spread all over.
So,what really happens when there are far too many men and far less women in the world?
The obvious is the rise of criminal acts and deteriorating culture.I am no man hater or arch feminist, but the fact is that men are reported to have more criminal tendencies than women.
Girls are aborted,at times, not even with the help of any doctor, and in the most unsafe means. And even when they live, grow up,the problems are still prevalent. The unsafe, prejudicial society favours men to the extent that if the men rape a woman, he's not going to lose out on life's essential rights but a woman will have to face discrimination till she dies.
People may be highly educated, but the basic old evil thinking never goes away.
They'll kill thier own children for a few basic 'comforts' in thier own lives.
I  salute Aamir Khan for bringing up this issue in the best way possible. This way,all these great people, that is, the people who indulge in the criminal act of female infanticide  will have watched how lowly, third rated people they actually are,and come out of their fantasy world.

Cuz violence ain't cool

Domestic violence is a violation of women's human rights. It is directed at them by their intimate partners, husband or boyfriend intended to hurt and create pain.It results in devastating physical, emotional, social effects not only on women, but on the entire community, family and children.
Often, the abuser/batterer is a lowlife who does not view women as people, but objects to use and dispose.
That is,objects of sex and things which serve no other purpose. The man will never blame himself for his crass behavior. It's always the women.Or its his bad day.
He could also be extremely possessive or jealous.Worst part,he believes he is entitled for sex.And born to dominate. The men, supposed to be superior beings right?Heck, they so don't know what being a woman is all about.Too ignorant or too stupid? Yet to find out.
Every year, more than ten thousand women lose their lives in domestic violence. That's almost three women everyday.
Recently,in a survey (2012) 57% adolescents claimed that it's okay,to hit women.After all,why differentiate?
Really, no moms and sisters at your place? Or superior beings already, are we?
There is no big deal about women treatment.Seriously, treat them with respect and kindness.Don't stare, pass lewd comments(ewww, passing such ghatiya comments, doesn't make you a big man,it makes you a lowlife)
And just because a woman trusts you with her life,it doesn't make her dumb.It makes you evil. And even more dumb-er.
So you trolled a women.Broke her trust.Makes you a big man?Unfortunately no.It just makes you a crass human being.Something your mom never wanted you to be.So,making  our mom proud, are we?
You--all of you.Who believe that women are secondary beings, inferior to you all greater beings, are a curse to the world. You think you can hide that terribly low self-esteem but trust me,it's so obvious.Staring right in everyone's face.
Catherine Smith was one such unfortunate woman, who had to put up with her brutal husband for three decades. She then resorted to killing her own husband, but she couldn't do it.Cuz she was no criminal, but she did end up killing herself. She tried to seek help from the system, but it couldn't help her. There are many such women out there, who face gruesome violence at the hands of their husbands daily .Seriously women out there,no,it's gonna worsen the situation if you stay with your cheapsta.Get out right away, the sooner the better.

India :unloved

We've had a glorious history.India was known as the 'land of milk and honey',implying ample prosperity and wealth, and no sad scene basically.Apart from the low status of women(which I'll get back to later)
It's said that,'where wealth accumulates, men decay' And so were invaded by various foreigners, who made the nation poor and the citizens spineless, which still continues today. We live in a world dominated by castes, sects, and the centrifugal pattern which makes all of us biased towards all other people. They'll all say,'Oh they just hate people of our caste/sect/religion' but they do the very same thing themselves. So much for the hypocrisy. And it's not just the old ones. The young ones will do that too.More so, in fact.
The government today is nothing but puerile garbage. They'll favor people of a certain class or community. And deliberately bring down the rest. They have to survive in the game of politics after all. The common people have relied on people like Anna Hazare or Baba Ramdev.Let's how that works. Not that I have much faith in it.
The govt has even hidden important components of the real history so as to prevent communal violence,as they claim. So,it never gets out. What we learnt in school was just partially bits and pieces info of what happened. Seriously, who is really patriotic? The leaders?working class? Nobody.Nobody gives a fuck.Everyone's preoccupied with something else to care really.Besides, most of them believe things are beyond repair anyway.Leaders take advantage of this resigned belief and continue their dirty business, making the commoners suffer and excelling in owning wealth in amounts unimaginable to even the richest commoner around.Boy,we are one messed up country.
People have their personal difficulties, jobs and all other stuff to sort out.So nobody cares. And so we survive like that.Nationalism? They'll laugh at you and tell you to get a life.
People(even the commonest of the common lot) bribe. They don't give a fuck about voting, about the environment and hence,we fulfilled the greed of our awesome politicians and we'll continue to do so.

Being single at 19

We live in a world where we are constantly being judged, its over our appearance, the way we talk,dress,earn,live...but it's also mostly about whom we date,or how we date or lead our personal lifestyles. And when we are a single(preferably for a long time like me) people are free to use their common sense NOT plus perception.Trust me,I appreciate being single, not falling for any random loser, learning what life really is without their help, which had earlier drained me completely.
And having a boyfriend has never done it for me and will never do so in the future(pretty sure of that) So here I am,weighing the pros and cons of being single at 19 in the 21st century ...
PROS OF BEING SINGLE;
1.Nothing to regret: Past love is mostly all about the guilt...about doing something wrong or not doing something when needed which leads to the demise of the relationship. So now I really do have nothing to regret...I live a relatively guilt free life. This is one of the awesomest perk of being a single woman.

2.No tensions:Relationships are not so smooth. You have to make them work.Keep the other person happy, massage your bruised ego all by yourself, make peace...and all that.I don't have to worry about that anymore.None of that, and none of OMG how are my parents going to react to this...I'm such a bad daughter and all of that.

3.No feeling low:Guys can be total asses at times. And when the power of vulnerability shifts from them to you,the slightest things they say can make you feel really bad.And in my case, the hurts have been really big.Since the past few years, apart from the old hurts,I've not reached an all time low or anything. In fact, being in a relationship can suck out your happiness and being single=being happy,is what I believe in truly.

4.No loss of self-esteem:Women do say they feel good when they're in a relationship. That never worked for me.These things have,in fact, reduced my self-esteem,which I brought back by positive things such as exercise, positive people, good friends and discipline.

5.You can retain your virginity:These days, there is no such thing as pre-marital sex.Everyone's doing it,like it's a fad.And sometimes, even relationships ain't necessary to take a step so big. While being a sunshine is much frowned upon by these intellects,I prefer to be one,no matter what they say.

6.Single=having brains:Often,we ignore the early warning systems present within us,which screams on silently. It has a voice which goes like'oh no you fool,he's lying' which you conveniently choose to ignore because you 'love' him.Love is often a vague terminology and people have been epic trolled by this

CONS OF BEING SINGLE
While you can already say that the pros outweigh the cons, the cons do exist, and come up every now and then, diminishing your common sense.

1.No feeling of that 'high' which love sometimes give you: Which only happens when you're with the right person.Just being in a relationship with any random person is not going to do that(unless he's a smooth talker:a quality which many girls find hard to not  fall for) Even then,at 19,I can figure out a smooth talker just like that.Life teaches you so many things.

2.*sigh* those awesome candle light dinners,cuddles..all those cheesy things which hello, rarely happen in real life are the things you want the most,at times, make you long for a boyfriend.

I'm pretty sure many girls all over can relate to this post ;) as I've added inputs from many girls I know..But over all,I'll definitely say,I prefer being single.

My top 10 most favorite things in life :)

My first picture blog post :)

I admit,I didn't blog for a while, due to laziness, other stuff going on,ectera, ectera. So this blog post caters to the self-obsessed part of me,which no matter how small its size, does exist. So here goes :)

1.Rom-Coms: Like I did admit in my earlier posts,I'm a cheesy much person. But I hate the way the word cheesy is used, like it's derogatory or something.Cheesy is a perfectly legitimate word, and romcoms are truly one of my favourite things :)Those familiar with my life and this blog, are aware of this, but this truly tops the list.
2.Meg Cabot's books: I know there are far better writers, with far better narrations. But this woman's books with her sophistcated wit and humour coupled with a sappy dappy love tale makes me feel good on the inside.
3.Cheesecakes and Tiramisu:Jeez. This blog post makes me sound super girly. Guiltily so.And this is my guilty pleasure. While it is generously loaded with calories,it is loaded with happiness as well.
I often eat them in a celebratory mood :) But trust me,you are missing something if you never tried these things.
4.How I met your Mother and the Big bang theory: Needless to say,I love these shows. They represent stuff actually happening with people in terms of dating, complicated feelings, and more so in a totally funny way.And since I've got all episodes loaded in my pc,its almost like reading a book on those lazy days.
5.Shoes: like a wise woman once said, there's one thing that will never disappoint me..shoes<3.All I can say is,she's damned right :D Shoes, flat or heels, stilettos or the extra-normal ones...shopping for them fills a gap in our lives that we never actually know actually  existed.
6.Fab kurtas: Kurtas are the best apparels I know.I can don them at any time, without feeling the uncomfortable feeling those short shirts sometimes give you.And they can look totally hot.
7.Writing: no,this doesn't have to be almost at the bottom list. But yes,I absolutely adore writing.I want to hone up this flair,so I can write publishing worth stuff.*sighs* never hurts to dream big!
8.Aerobics: I love to workout.Especially aerobics. While I'm not regular with it now,I intend to be soon.
9.Random layman politics discussion with dad:analysing country's growth,freedom,constitution,cases...is what I talk about with my dad. He's awesome and gives me some wonderful essential insights about the way things go around in this country. He's immensely knowledgeable, and it's fun to know all those facts
10.Girlie talks with mom: I tell my mom most of the things. She's patient, an awesome listener(a trait found so rarely in people nowadays, what with selective hearing being in fashion)
is an awesome, matured friend to have.
